Athens State
Athens State University is a public, co-educational institution of higher learning offering programs leading to a baccalaureate or master’s degree. The University is unique as an upper-division institution that only offers coursework at the junior/senior and graduate levels. The overriding mission of the institution is to serve the upper-division needs of transfer students and to offer strategic graduate programs.
The University serves a unique student demographic in that almost 60% of students attend on a part-time basis. Most are already employed (90%) and raising families. They are place-bound and over 90% take at least one distance learning course each semester as they balance work, family, and education responsibilities. Athens State provides students the opportunity to further their education and improve their employability skills by offering flexible, relevant program offerings at the most affordable tuition rate in the state.
Interstate Passport
This example of a Passport Block was developed by faculty at Athens State. This member profile was developed as an example of how learning outcome-based transfer can be mapped onto a general education curriculum. The Interstate Passport program sunset at the end of 2023, and each member institution has different policies regarding their ongoing transfer relationships. The publication of their Passport Block is a part of the evergreen resources managed by WICHE to serve as an example and should not indicate any current or ongoing transfer relationships.
