Understanding Fentanyl
The Mountain Plains Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Center is proud to host Utah State University Extension’s HEART Initiative for the first of a two-webinar series geared toward educators, presenting information regarding illicitly manufactured fentanyl (IMF). Recent data show that IMF is an increasing contributor to the high rates of opioid overdose. Most worrisome among communities is the potential impact it is having on school-aged youth who may not be aware of the risks. This webinar will provide a background on IMF, signs and symptoms of use and consequences, review current trends on use and prevalence among youth, and discuss the do’s and don’ts of addressing and preventing substance misuse among youth by utilizing evidence-based prevention strategies. We will also review campaigns, toolkits, and other resources that school professionals can use.
