Student and Graduate Testimonials
Here's what students and graduates are saying about WICHE's Student Exchange Programs
"I’m from Arizona where we don’t have a professional veterinary program. As a pre-vet biological science major, I wanted to enroll in a university that offered a DVM, so I’d have more opportunities during my undergrad studies. CSU fit the bill, but I wouldn’t be here without WUE. Now I’m attending the school I love at an affordable price, and it’s opened up so many opportunities with animals, science professors, and veterinarians in the area. Thank you to all of the supporters of the WUE program!"
— Haley, Arizona resident, Class of 2014, Colorado State University, Biological Science
"WUE made out-of-state tuition at CSU affordable. There’s no way I’d be here without it. Thank you!"
— Erin, Oregon resident, Class of 2012, Colorado State University, Anthropology and International Development
"WUE gave me the chance to go to college out-of-state. Without it, I wouldn’t have been able to study at CSU, and their environmental program has been a great fit for my future goals."
— Chelsea, Nevada resident, Class of 2014, Colorado State University, Conservation Biology
"If it weren't for WUE, I would not have been able to go to CSU. Out-of-state study has opened many doors for me, and I’ve had so many different experiences that I just wouldn’t have had otherwise. Thank you!"
— Kat, New Mexico resident, Class of 2013, Colorado State University, Fine Arts
"Thanks to WUE I’m able to come to Colorado State University and study both of my areas of interest! They have a strong music program and are one of the few schools that offer zoology as a major. It has been an awesome experience getting to know new people and going to school out-of-state. And, my education here will be good preparation for vet school later."
— Mely, California resident, Class of 2014, Colorado State University, Zoology and Music
"WUE tuition made out-of-state study possible; leaving my home town was something I felt I needed to do in order to “find myself”. I am so thankful to WICHE’s WUE program for allowing me to go to school here in Colorado. I wouldn't have been able to afford it any other way."
— Dakota, Alaska resident, Class of 2013, Colorado State University, English Education
"'Going to college' always meant to me that I would study out-of-state. I wanted to go out on my own to discover new places and people, and study a subject I loved. While I looked at colleges during my senior year, financial realities seemed to crush all hope when I crunched the figures. Thanks to WUE, I‘m living my long-awaited dream and paying reasonable tuition, with possibility of going to medical school in the future."
— Sarah, New Mexico resident, Class of 2013, Colorado State University, Biomedical Science (Chinese minor)
"I’d wanted to go to college in Colorado for quite some time, and WUE made it financially possible. I am able to meet new people and experience living in a new place. Thank you!"
— David, Oregon resident, 2014, Colorado State University, Undeclared
"WUE’s helped me achieve my academic goals by allowing me to attend an out-of-state university without putting a financial burden on me. I’ve enjoyed my studies in mechanical engineering and I’m very happy with the education I’m getting here. At CSU, WUE is merit-based (and hiring companies know this); it’s one of the reasons behind my success as a college student because it’s motivated me to maintain a high GPA."
— Courtney, Arizona resident, Class of 2013, Colorado State University, Mechanical Engineering
"WUE has allowed me to enroll in an institution that I would otherwise not have been able to attend. With some of the financial burden lifted, I can focus my attention on studying and the goals ahead of me. Without WUE, I wouldn’t have had the chance to experience of the State of Colorado and benefit from the educational programs and research that is abundant here. I’m extremely appreciative of the opportunities WUE has provided that will help me prepare for medical school in the future."
— Molly, South Dakota resident, Class of 2012, Colorado State University, Health and Exercise Science, Sports Medicine
"I had visited three other universities when my family and I went to visit CSU. I instantly fell in love with the campus and their equine sciences program. There was one problem, though. I would be an out-of-state student, which meant my parents would have to take out some serious loans to send me there. WUE made CSU affordable, and I don’t have to worry about bankrupting my parents or being in debt when I finish my degree. No words can adequately express how much WUE has meant to me and my family, but I hope my story will illustrate the difference it makes for students and their families."
— Nicole, California resident, Class of 2012, Colorado State University, Equine Science
"The skills that one learns by moving to a new state and meeting new people cannot be learned in a classroom. Many students like me cannot afford out-of-state tuition, but thanks to WUE, I’m able to afford nonresident tuition and study restaurant and resort management, which was not offered by institutions in my home state. I value my education that I’ve received here, and I hope that WUE will continue to help students gain access to the education and opportunities that they need and deserve."
— Kristen, New Mexico resident, Class of 2012, Colorado State University, Restaurant and Resort Management
"WUE allowed me to attend the university of my dreams, and without it, I could not afford to study at CSU. I’m majoring in biomedical sciences, which I find fascinating, and not many colleges offer such a program. This undergraduate degree will fulfill many of the prerequisites required for a doctorate in veterinary medicine."
— Tiffany, New Mexico resident, Class of 2013, Colorado State University, Biomedical Sciences and Zoology
"Without WUE, I would not have been able to attend Colorado State University as an Equine Science major; I’m thankful for this, as the program provides outstanding preparation for vet school. WUE also makes it affordable for students move out of their home state “comfort zone” and gain more diverse perspectives. WUE’s opened many opportunities for me, and is playing a critical role in shaping my professional future."
— Melanie, California resident, Class of 2014, Colorado State University, Equine Sciences and Pre-Vet
"Thanks to WUE, I was able to attend my first choice university. And coming to Colorado has given me opportunities to connect with potential employers that I never would have gotten to meet otherwise. I‘ve also been able to join clubs like “Collegiate Cattlewomen” which other schools in my state don’t offer. I am now one year away from teaching students and I am thrilled that I am getting to live out my dreams because WUE made them possible."
— Kacie, California resident, Class of 2012, Colorado State University, Animal Science and Agriculture Education
