Membership

Regionally-accredited higher education consortia can join WICHE ICE. These clients are finding new ways to provide more cost-effective access to high quality online learning opportunities to their students.

Benefits

A consortia of member institutions can help your institution respond to student demand for specialized and popular courses and programs.  By joining WICHE ICE, your consortium will be able to:

  1. offer expanded online course and program offerings to students.

  2. respond more quickly to workforce demands by sharing online courses and programs with other accredited consortium institutions.

  3. review courses from consortium institutions for requirements and assess their quality before students take them.

Beyond more opportunities for students, consortium institutions will also:

  1. increase marginal revenue for courses that are not filled to capacity.

  2. support effective student learning, assessment and continuous improvement.

  3. achieve cost efficiencies by avoiding or sharing the cost of new course and program development.

  4. share faculty in hard to staff disciplines.

  5. keep courses with low enrollments viable.

WICHE ICE benefits students by providing:

States and regions involved in WICHE ICE will:

Faculty members at WICHE ICE consortium institutuions will have opportunities to:

  1. teach in their area of expertise to a broader range of students.

  2. collaborate with faculty at other member institutions.

  3. assist students with the selection of distance courses and programs.

  4. teach more specialty courses that are made possible by combining enrollments from more than one institution.

To join WICHE ICE, submit an application and send a signed copy of the Memorandum of Understanding with a check for dues to:
